Cambridge Ellis School

With admissions season fast approaching and their old Wordpress site falling apart at the seams — code snippets showing on the front end, plugins no-longer supported, a staff directory page that could no longer be updated, and a mobile-unfriendly design — Cambridge Ellis preschool urgently needed a new site that was intuitive for busy school admin to edit while representing the school's unique identity and culture.

Over a couple of weeks, I worked with a small team of directors to:

• rearchitect the underlying structure of the site

• build a bare-minimum functional site (on the modern foundations of Statamic) so that the team could start migrating the content even as the site was being built

• create a new visual design reflecting the school's spaces and emphasis on nature.

An ongoing collaboration, there is more to do. But the school was able to field a record breaking admissions season without a hitch, with site analytics showing an average of ten pages viewed per visitor, and approximately half of all visits coming from mobile devices.

After this two week 'sprint', Cambridge Ellis now has a strong foundation on which to take the site to the next level.
